Monthly Book Group

The Book Group meets every second Thursday of the month at the Granary Café, 2 Devonshire Road, Sunshine, between 10 am and 12 pm.

For the October 2021 session we will be reading:

In 1901, the word bondmaid was discovered missing from the Oxford English Dictionary. This is the story of the girl who stole it.

Set when the women’s suffrage movement was at its height and the Great War loomed, The Dictionary of Lost Words reveals a lost narrative,  hidden between the lines of a history written by men. It’s a delightful, lyrical and deeply thought-provoking celebration of words, and the power of language to shape our experience of the world.

We don’t know at this stage if it will be possible to meet face to face. You will be informed at a later date if we will meet at our usual venue or via Zoom
